Contract Attorney

     The Ross County Court of Common Pleas General Division is seeking to retain the services of an attorney as an independent contractor to provide legal services for indigent defendants in non-IV-D domestic relations actions involving the potential loss of liberty.

     Requirements for Applicants:

  • Possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited university or college and be admitted to practice law in the state of         Ohio.
  • Possess relevant experience in domestic relations law
  • Maintain professional liability insurance in an amount not less than $500,000 per person and $1,000,000 per               occurrence
  • Provide legal representation without discrimination
  • Acquire all continuing legal education necessary to provide quality legal representation
  • Ability to appear punctually and prepared for hearings before the court
  • Ability to clearly communicate with and provide quality legal representation to indigent defendants 
  • Submit accurate invoices on a monthly basis for legal services provided

     Compensation will be based on the State Maximum Fee Schedule for Appointed Counsel Reimbursement of $75.00 per hour for both in-court and out-of-court work as adopted by the Ross County Commissioners.

     As an independent contractor, the individual selected for this role shall be responsible for their own expenses and shall NOT be considered an employee of the court or Ross County.
