Job Description

Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator or Building Services Manager, performs duties to provide care, cleaning & maintenance of building, furniture & fixtures.

• Adheres to all OSHA, CDC and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines;
• Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces;
• Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets;
• Washes walls; cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed***;
• Cleans glass and mirrors;
• Cleans and empties trash receptacles;
• May remove and hang drapes;
• Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas;
• Reports need for equipment repair;
• Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property;
• Checks in supplies; stocks supply areas;
• May assist in washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots & pans;
• Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains;
• Operates dish machine/pot washer to clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, pans, etc.
• Performs other related duties as required.
