POSITION INTRODUCTION:
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is a grant funded position and is
responsible for assuring all Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Medical Reserve Corp
deliverables tied to the funding source are completed in a timely manner. The position will serve
as the agency Emergency Response Coordinator and regional Medical Reserve Corp coordinator
and will assure that all health district emergency preparedness plans are completed, kept current,
are disseminated, and that staff and leadership are appropriately trained to implement the plans.
The position will collaborate with external emergency response personnel at the local, regional,
and state level for planning and response to various public health emergencies and will serve as a
leadership team member for the agency in the activation and execution of emergency response
plans in event of a public health emergency. The Public Health Emergency Preparedness
Coordinator will serve on the agency’s Incident Command Team and will assist in the response
to both public health emergencies training activities and during public health emergencies. The
position further contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of a
comprehensive regional Medical Reserve Corp volunteer recruitment and training program. The
Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is organizationally positioned within the
Health Promotion and Quality Improvement Division and reports directly to the Director of
Health Promotion and Quality Improvement but will be responsible for working with all
divisions within the agency to continuously improve upon the agency’s emergency response
capabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and CHARACTERISTICS:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, Nursing, Community Health, Public Health,
Natural Sciences, Emergency Preparedness / Response or related field.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to develop, organize, motivate, and coordinate groups.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable in accordance with
the agency’s insurance policy.
• Ability to pass a B.C.I. Background Check and Drug Screening.

$21.18 - $25.42
