Chamber reaction to U.S. Paper Mill Co. news release
CHILLICOTHE – The following statement can be attributed to Michael Throne, IOM, President and CEO of the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce, regarding the July 2, 2026, information about the former Pixelle site in Chillicothe:
"This is exactly the kind of opportunity we’ve been hoping to see. It’s the transformation Ross County has been working toward, and it's incredibly gratifying to see it become reality. From the very beginning, our vision for the former Pixelle site was never just about replacing what was lost — it was about reimagining that campus as a true multi-use hub that could support a diversity of high-skilled, high-paying industries under one roof.
Seeing U.S. Paper Mill bring together partners to build out advanced manufacturing, aerospace, medical device production, and next-generation computing capabilities validates that vision in a big way.
This isn't just good news for the hundreds of direct and indirect jobs this will create — it's a signal that Chillicothe and Ross County are positioned to lead in the industries of the future while honoring the hardworking people and legacy of this community. We're proud to have been part of the conversation from day one, and we're excited to continue supporting our investors and partners as this project grows."
