Dr. Brian Cohen performs his 2000th Mako robotic surgery

Earlier this week was a great celebration as Dr. Brian Cohen, MD, orthopedic surgeon, completed his 2000thprocedure using MAKO Smart Robotics.

The MAKO Systems have transformed the way Dr. Cohen performs joint replacement, and has improved the healing of orthopedic and sports medicine injuries for over 5 years. He was the first doctor in south central Ohio to perform robotic-assisted orthopedic surgeries.

"2000 is just a number, but what it represents is more important. It serves as a commitment from me to my patients and it is symbolic of the advanced technologies that I promise to continue to provide. Technologies, like MAKO, help

make me a better surgeon, so I can do the best procedure for each individual patient,” said Dr. Cohen.

With the Mako robotic arm-assisted hip and knee replacement procedures, Dr. Cohen can make more precise cuts and adjustments quicker. This advanced technology also may reduce the need for opiates, the duration of hospital stays, inpatient physical therapy as well as post-operative pain.

“This anniversary supports my 23 years of surgical experience. Patients can have comfort knowing I have done this before, thousands of times, 2000 to be exact. And it’s certainly not my first time,” added Dr. Cohen.

Dr. Cohen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who provides comprehensive general orthopedic surgery and orthopedic trauma care throughout southeast Ohio and surrounding areas. By continuing to lead the way in orthopedic care for our area, He embraces his patient first mentality.

Dr. Cohen is the lead surgeon of Cohen Orthopedic, seeing patients in Chillicothe, Grove City and Columbus. “My patients come first. It’s always been that way, and I will take great strides to continue delivering the care that my patients deserve,” stated Dr. Brian Cohen.
