Music legend Ricky Skaggs to return to Sugarloaf Mountain in 2025

No date announced by "Tecumseh!" drama producers

Producers of the Outdoor Drama "Tecumseh!"  are pleased to announce that Country Music Hall of Famer, Ricky Skaggs, will return to Sugarloaf Mountain this summer!

“Ricky has a great cross-over appeal to audiences of all ages and interests.  He is probably the greatest living mandolin player, has 15 Grammy Awards on his mantle and 22 Billboard Chart topping records.  All of us in the office can’t wait for June 22 to see this legendary American artist back on our stage.” Said CEO Brandon Smith.

“We’ve brought in the best acts in Bluegrass music over the past few years with this concert series and have in a very short time become a leading presenter of the genre in America.  We’re continuing to build both the series and the audience and Ricky is the biggest name in the business.  Audiences last year demanded that he come back this year. But we’re not done yet.  We still have a couple irons in the fire.”

At the age of 15, Skaggs began touring with Ralph and Carter Stanley as part of the Stanley Brothers.  “Ralph Stanley was my first boss,” Skaggs said. “He really carried the ancient Celtic sounds with him. He made his first recordings when he was 18, but even then he sounded like he was 80. He was always an old soul.”

Stanley, who appeared at Sugarloaf Mountain in 2015, passed away in 2016.

“Bluegrass is about to turn 80 years old. It was first recorded back in 1946,” Skaggs said. “We’ll certainly do the country hits as well, so folks don’t go away missing the hits they listened to 25 or 30 years ago,” Skaggs said. “We love being able to play the hits for people, even though they’ll be done in more of a bluegrass acoustic style than they’re used to.”

Tickets for the concert will go on sale Friday March 21 at 10AM.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.tecumsehdrama.com or by calling 740-775-4100.  Tickets begin at $40 and a limited number of VIP tickets which include a free drink, a limited edition poster and lanyard and a priority spot in line for meet and greet following the performance (should the artist choose to do one) are available.  Kids ages 6 and younger are only $10.

This concert is presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing.
